When someone asks, “how are you?” To what level does the person really want to know? Why is it that as humans we have learned to present only a small piece of ourselves? We present the pieces that are whole, yet there is so much more. There is so much each one of us has going on in our past, our present and our future.

In my artwork, I am able to see clearly how every nuance impacts the final outcome. I am able to even see how my perceived mistakes in many ways lead to what becomes the beauty at the end. Sit a moment with this. What if we are missing out in our personal lives from authentic and true connections by only sharing a sliver of who we are in fear of being seen for who we truly are.

Something interesting happens when you create things. The actual process of creating an expression takes you through phases and stages. It takes you through struggle. It takes you through emotion whether you like the emotions that present or not.

As I share these thoughts with you, I want to remind you that everyone has pain. There isn’t a single human on this planet that hasn’t gone through things that have caused the negative spectrum of emotions. It is in being human and experiencing these emotions that we further create who we are.

You yourself are a beautiful creation, go be you. And as a reminder to myself…as my boys say to me, “you do you Mom!”
