FAQ

Do you create your own artwork outside of commissioned empathic art?
-
Can I afford original artwork like this? I always thought it would be cost prohibitive.
All commissions start at $500. Knowing original artwork is expensive, I strive to make an experience accessible. Depending on your specific needs and desires this cost will vary. If this is a concern for you, be sure to discuss it openly with me during our first call so that I can budget keeping your specific needs in mind.

What is an empathic artist?
An empathic artist is a creative individual who possesses a heightened sense of empathy and emotional understanding, which they channel into their artistic expression. This type of artist is deeply attuned to the emotions and experiences of others, and they are able to connect with the world on a profound level.
An empathic artist can work in various mediums, such as visual arts, literature, music, theater, film, and more. Their creations often evoke empathy and stir emotions in those who experience their art, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.
-
Can I give commissioned empathic art as a gift?
Yes! Absolutely. The only difference is that you will do the initial discovery call with me instead of the recipient. If you plan to purchase the commissioned empathic art as a gift, I will have a gift certificate available for you to share with the recipient via email or for you to print.
-
What if I want to do a series of commissioned empathic art pieces over the course of a year?
I love doing sequence work and would be happy to explore this with you to be sure it meets your desired outcome. The process would be very much the same with an initial mutual discovery call. The only difference would be that we would schedule several sessions over the course of a year and I would create a custom quote for your project based on the number of sessions and artwork pieces you desire.
-
Why is there a mutual decision point on working together?
I truly believe that for me to do what I do, I need to feel comfortable and connected authentically with you. Without this mutual feeling, commissioned empathic art would not be successful. If for some reason I do not feel we should proceed, please do not take it personally. It is just that I may not be able to connect with you empathically based on my own life experiences. It is in no way a reflection on you.
-
Is there a standard size for the finished artwork?
No. Each commissioned empathic artwork is individualized. When we do our initial discovery call I will get a general idea from you if you have a specific size in mind, but generally speaking the idea is for us to create a custom piece that fits what you are needing. This means as we do our deep dive discovery call, I will be teasing out my own sense of what the artwork should be ranging from size, color, etc.
-
How long is it until I receive my artwork?
Each project is very unique so it is very hard for me to provide an estimate of timing. I can say that based on the time of year and how booked I am, the timing can vary greatly. In our initial discovery call, I will provide for you a sense of my work load and how long I anticipate before I can truly dive into your project. After our deep dive call, I will have a much stronger sense of anticipated time line and will provide you a rough estimate at the end of that call. Please know that I want to put my full creative and empathic energies to your project so sometimes patience is what is needed for your piece to be what it ultimately needs to be while other times pieces come together very quickly. The most important thing is to know that I am invested in creating for you what you need personally and will put my utmost attention to it. I am so excited to be working with you and sharing my gifts with you.
-
Is framing included in the cost?
This is the only item not included in the cost. If you decide you want me to select the frame and have it custom framed for you, I am happy to do so. I will not up charge any framing but will extend the discount that is extended to me as an artist from the professional framer I think is best suited for your piece. I will share with you the cost before proceeding with framing and will invoice you for it at that time. Please know that for me to do this, I will require payment in full up front for the framing.
-
What if I don’t like the final piece of artwork or don’t feel it communicates what I was seeking?
Throughout the process, I will be sending you updates on the piece as it progresses (between 4-8 visuals). If as you get updates, you are not feeling connected to what is unfolding, you will be able to communicate fully and openly with me. While I can’t guarantee that you will be satisfied, it doesn’t often happen that you and I are not on the same page if we have had an authentic deep dive video call.
Please know that I am creatively expressing what I’ve sensed from what you shared and while you may have some ideas in mind, keeping your mind open to what you don’t expect may be exactly what you are seeking and don’t realize you really need more of.
If when your commissioned empathic artwork is completed and you are truly not happy, I will offer to create a replacement piece at no cost with the understanding that you will release the first piece to me. I want you to be happy with your piece so I am pleased to be able to extend this offer in the event it is necessary.
-
Does the cost for a project ever change?
I work very hard when I create the proposal for your project to make sure there are no later unexpected expenses. If for some reason there is a change in the scope of your project at your request, this could change the cost but otherwise you will know up front exactly the financial expenditure you can expect.
-
Why do you require a 50% deposit to start the commission?
Once I start your empathic art commission, I will be purchasing all relevant items to create your piece. I select the highest quality materials to create my art so this deposit is to ensure that I am not financially burdened if you decide later on that you don’t want to move forward.
-
Do you ever offer commissioned empathic art at a cost lower than $500?
I do not. This starting cost of all empathic art commissions is necessary for me to cover all aspects ranging from my time to the supplies, shipping, etc.
