Ignite Creativity with a 100 Day Project

What is a 100 Day Project?

It is any creative project you choose to work on everyday for 100 days in a row.

Why is there value in making the project progress over 100 days?

Patience is a very interesting thing when it comes to the creative process. Unlike black and white projects to complete, the actual process you follow when creating is impacted greatly by the process itself. Taking time and suspending judgment and having something unfold and progress over time informs the final product. The process itself is almost more important than the end point reached of a creation of some type.

What are some examples of 100 Day Projects?

I personally took on my first 100 Day Project that greatly evolved my artistic process. I took a 20’’ x 20’’ canvas and broke it into a hundred 2’’ x 2’’ squares. Each day I worked on only one square for 100 days. You can see how it unfolded up to day 37 here. Curious to see the final outcome? Take a look here.

More examples:

Draw your hand everyday for 100 days

Capture a photo that you find interesting on your phone everyday for 100 days

Color a picture everyday for 100 days

Write a letter to yourself everyday for 100 days

Create a collage canvas everyday for 100 days

Make a dot drawing everyday for 100 days

Add a song to a playlist everyday for 100 days

While I did a 100 day project on my own timeline, there is a community built around this concept where you can embark on the journey with a group of people. I personally found great value in undertaking a creative project in this way. My own artistic process evolved and I found pleasure in seeing how the journey itself has immense value. I also could greatly see immense beauty in how individual pieces brought together had more beauty than any individual part.
